Cleopatra seems to be the original skin care specialist with her honey treatment.
One of the main products that was used for skin care in Cleopatra's time was honey. It was used to treat cuts and burns. It was also used as an embalming material but we don't have to go into detail on that here. In Cleopatra's day, the Greeks and Romans used honey to treat wounds and for other skin disorders.
The reason that honey is so effective in this way is that it has certain properties that limit the growth of bacteria. Honey 's anti bacterial properties cut off the supply of water and nitrogen and when applied to a cut or a wound it produces hydrogen peroxide in an interesting way. As you know putting store bought hydrogen peroxide directly onto a cut or would can damage the skin - it is much too powerful in this form. It kills the bacteria but it also kills skin. That is not our goal here. This is how it works. The fluids from the wound mix with the honey and particularly an enzyme in the honey to create the hydrogen peroxide. Slowly being released like this the hydrogen peroxide kills an bacteria and helps promote healing.
Because of this slow process, there is less scarring.
There have been extensive studies with honey applied to burns. In one study in India, 450 burn victim patients were treated with honey and a comparable number with the standard burn treatment. The patients treated with honey healed much more quickly than the others. So, you can see that if honey will improve such dramatically damaged skin, it could work wonders for just "normal" problems such as sunburn or exzema.
Most people aren't interested in putting ordinary honey on a sunburn or an insect bite so Thentix was designed with honey as the main ingredient to be the ultimate skin care cream.
