How to Treat Cradle Cap

Treat cradle cap in babies or infants the same way you would a rash in any other person. Ideally you do not want to use a product or oil that will coat or seal the skin. Baby oil and many creams coat the skin and block the pores.

Check your creams to make sure they do not have petroleum product ingredients like mineral oil, petrolatum or propylene glycol. Make sure that there is no glycerin or wax.

A product with honey or aloe (like Thentix 'A Touch of Honey') will help heal the area and calm the itching. Chamomile and calendula are both anti inflammatories which will help with the itching and both honey and calendula have been used for hundreds of years for healiing skin problems - wounds and burns.

To get rid of cradle cap with Thentix put a small amount on the affected area 2-4 times a day until it clears up. You do not need to slather it on. Just put enough to comfortably cover the area and then do this a few hours later again. Once it has cleared up you can usually get away with putting Thentix on a few times a week as maintenance - everyone is different.
